A Message From Oak and Walnut Founder/Owner Martin

Oak and Walnut is a small family business, based in Somerset, Glastonbury.

My name is Martin and I am the founder and owner of Oak and Walnut.

Like many other carpenters out there, I started my carpentry experience as a teenager, watching my father in his workshop and later helping him on big projects. I now run my own workshop where I put my heart and passion for wood into every single project. I carefully source the most suitable raw materials and apply a combination of traditional carpentry techniques with a modern touch to produce unique handcrafted pieces. I enjoy the journey of each of my projects: whether it is a small bespoke furniture item or an old piece getting a new lease on life through my careful hand restoration. 

My inspiration comes from wood’s natural properties. Your piece will always be unique, as the diversity in wood grain patterns make every item look different and non-replicable – no two pieces of wood will ever look the same.

All products available from my shop are of my own design and everything is made to order. I use the best quality wood preservation oils and waxes available. Each custom order is thoroughly discussed with a client, to ensure every new wooden addition is made to individual requirements. While I work on the product, I always aim to achieve the results I would be expecting myself as a customer…and I am a very demanding customer.

I am extremely proud that a number of my products have already found homes around the world.
